A Rousing "Dziekuje!" to the Polish Embassy!

On Thursday, December 16, at the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, Dave took his Szopka Education Project to Orr Elementary School in Washington, D.C. The "Mini" Szopka Workshop was presented as part of the Embassy Adoption Program which works with 5th and 6th grade students to infuse global education in the classroom to enhance students' cultural competency and increase cross-cultural communication skills. Thanks to the help of Teacher Alison Yocum, we were able to bring our Szopka Education Project to her 5th grade students, all 22 of whom were enthusiastic and worked diligently to create their own unique 19 inch "mini" Szopka. Thanks also goes to the CeilGlembocki for volunteering to help with the class. At the conclusion of the workshop, the students posed with their Szopki for a group photo, (shown here) and shouting a rousing "Dziekuje" ("Thank You") to our friends from the Polish Embassy who sponsored the four-hour workshop
Rochester Workshop
On October 23 & 24, 2010, Dave and Ron Jeroski traveled to Rochester, New York to conduct the Fourth Annual Szopka Workshop for the Polish Heritage Society of Rochester. Once again, Dave was able to share his teaching methodology with several enthusiastic students from Rochester and surrounding areas. This project was funded by a grant from the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the New York State Legislature. Also, hats-off to Barb and Bob Pippin for their great work in organizing and setting up the workshop. It was indeed a great pleasure to visit Rochester again, to share with the workshop students and particularly to work with Barb and Bob who are great people and good organizers.
